Small Progress and a New Addition

Started to get the D.520 cockpit painted prior to assembly. Put down a coat of aluminum first, then hairspray, then the dark grey interior. I may or may not chip it a little bit, but I'm not going to go mad on it.

And a mix of grey and silver on the Clipper, which has taken forever to get rid of the seam line on the upper fuselage. I was trying not lose too much detail, but it was a bit of a lost cause. I'm going to try a hybrid black/grey basing for the metallic surface, and I have a variety of Alclad aluminum colors (bright, dull, dark, etc) to see if I can get a non-uniform blotchy look to the metal.

And I treated myself to a new Tankraft.com cutting mat. Not caring a whole lot for armor, I elected to get the classic Spitfire, and it does look sharp. But I'm going to need a cutting mat to protect this cutting mat for a while before I'm willing to actually cut on it.
